
The Lebanese Athletics Federation's annual general assembly unanimously approved the administrative and financial statements for 2023 during a packed session held at the federation's headquarters in Dekwaneh. The meeting was attended by the representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Naji Hammoud, the federation's president, Roland Saadeh, federation members, and representatives of 20 clubs (19 out of 25 eligible to vote).
The Lebanese national anthem was played, followed by the Federation's Secretary General, Wassim Al-Holy, welcoming the attendees and announcing that the quorum was complete, as the required number of half the clubs plus one was required. President Roland Saadeh then spoke, recalling 12 years ago when he was first elected president in 2012, adding that the General Assembly has placed its trust in successive federations, including the current Administrative Committee. He considered the attendance of 20 clubs out of 25 to be a sign of good health, and that the current General Assembly was one of the most successful. Saadeh pointed out that the Federation has performed its duties to the fullest through its intensive activities despite the difficult economic and political situation that has been evolving for more than four years, commending the role of the clubs in developing the game and achieving several accomplishments for Lebanese athletics. The Federation's Secretary General, Wassim Al-Holy, then read out the minutes of the previous General Assembly meeting held on February 18 of last year, which was unanimously approved. Al-Holy then read out the comprehensive administrative statement, which contains all administrative and technical details in detail, and it was unanimously approved after discussion. In turn, Treasurer Maria Kevorkian read the financial statement, which included accurate figures and detailed information on income and expenditure. It was also unanimously approved after discussion, thus clearing the Federation's Administrative Committee of any liability. The estimated budget for 2024 and the busy calendar of activities for the current year were also approved. In conclusion, the representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Naji Hammoud, spoke, commending the active role of the Athletics Federation through its intensive activities and the results achieved locally and internationally. A number of club representatives also commended the performance and work methods of the Federation and its sponsorship of the game.
