Preparations for the Winter Olympics and participation in the opening

The Lebanese delegation to the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games, hosted by Gangwon, South Korea, has been completed. Members of the delegation have gathered in the Olympic Village under the supervision and field follow-up of the head of the delegation, member of the Executive Committee of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, Raymond Sukkar, who stated that the players, both male and female, have engaged in preparatory training under the guidance of the coaching staff, which includes Frenchman Romain Garcin, Salim Keyrouz, Samer Touq, and Salim Lazm. Sukkar indicated that he attended the meeting of the heads of delegations to confirm participation in the competitions and receive the approved cards for the members of the delegation, the players’ rooms, and the training dates. The Lebanese competitions will begin on Tuesday, January 23, with the alpine skiing competition (long slalom) by Kiana Saqqal for the youth category, and the following day, Wednesday, January 24, with Alexander Hayek for the youth category. On Thursday, January 25, the short slalom competitions will be held, with Hayek and Saqqal competing together, while the cross-country skiing competition will begin on the 29th, with the participation of both male and female players. Cyril Lazum, Karen Sakkar and Marcelino Touq. Sakkar also expressed his deep pride in the praise and commendation received from a number of officials of the delegations participating in the tournament and the organizing committee of the games regarding Lebanon’s qualification for the first time in the women’s downhill skiing competition, through the players Karen Sakkar and Cyril Lazum, with a total of points.
