Al-Burj Club announces its withdrawal from the Lebanese Football Championship

The Al-Burj Club administration issued a statement informing the club's fans and supporters of its withdrawal from the league championship. The statement read as follows: "The Al-Burj Club administration addresses you today with heavy hearts and deep sorrow to deliver the sad news of the first team's withdrawal from the Lebanese Premier League, effective immediately. You, our brothers and loved ones, have always been the backbone and unwavering pulse of the club, and your support at every stage has been the secret to our survival and strength." We assure you that this decision was the last thing we wanted, and we resorted to it only after exhausting all other avenues and solutions. It came as a result of unforeseen and severe financial difficulties that the club could no longer bear, especially after the resignation of the club president, who was also the main financier. This created a financial and administrative vacuum that prevented us from providing the minimum requirements for fair competition in the league, in a manner befitting the name and legacy of Al-Burj. We extend our special thanks and appreciation to Mr. Fadi Nasser, who shouldered full responsibility with sincerity and dedication for the past five years. We also express our gratitude to Mr. Ryan Al-Anan, Mr. Jihad Al-Anan, and Mr. Ahmed Harb for their continuous support and standing by the club at various junctures. Everyone knows that Al-Burj Club is not just a name in the register of Lebanese clubs, but a living history, the identity of a region, and a story of struggle and pride. It is the team that raised the flag of Burj Al-Barajneh high, won the Lebanese Cup in 1993, and gave Lebanese football dozens of stars who represented the nation. Therefore, this day is a day of sorrow for everyone who has belonged to or interacted with this institution. We share your pain and regret, and we know the wound is deep. In this historic ordeal our club is going through, we raise our voices in a cry for help: to all the loyal members of the club… to businessmen, expatriates, and people of determination… to sports lovers and all patriotic Lebanese… standing with us today is not just support, but saving a sporting and human heritage from being lost. Hand in hand, we can breathe life back into this institution. In conclusion, we extend our deepest gratitude to you, the true yellow fans, who have stood by the club through thick and thin. The club's management assures you that it will launch a new administrative election process in the coming period and will open membership in the General Assembly to all those wishing to contribute, in order to restructure and reorganize the club, and to work collectively to revive it and return it to the ranks of the first division clubs, where it rightfully belongs.
