Karate Protection Girls crowned best social and sporting event in Latvia

Lebanese Toufic Kawar, president of the Latvian Karate Federation, received national recognition after his "Girls of Protection in Karate" initiative won the award for Best Social and Sporting Impact Event of 2025 in Latvia. The award was presented last Saturday during the 2025 Latvian Martial Arts Awards ceremony, organized by the Council of Latvian Sports Federations, which represents 94 national sports federations. The ceremony was attended by more than 300 athletes and broadcast live on national television. The Girls Protection Karate Program was held in Riga, Latvia, from November 6th to 9th, bringing together women from across Europe to earn their GGK certifications. This recognition was given in appreciation of the program's contribution to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to this recognition, the Latvian Karate Federation also received several awards honoring outstanding athletes and coaches, highlighting the federation's growing international standing. The organizers expressed their gratitude to national institutions, international partners, and the World Karate Federation for their support, emphasizing the role of sport as a powerful tool for social inclusion, education, and positive change.
