Haider: Infantino is finalizing Lebanese citizenship procedures and advanced talks are underway regarding the construction of a stadium in Lebanon.

During FIFA President Gianni Infantino's visit to Lebanon, Lebanese Football Federation President Hashem Haidar stated that the visit was to finalize the procedures for Infantino to obtain Lebanese citizenship, as well as to continue ongoing discussions between the Lebanese Federation and FIFA on several issues, most notably the project to build a new stadium in Lebanon with a grant from FIFA. Haidar explained that Infantino is working on completing the paperwork for obtaining a Lebanese passport and travel ticket, noting that the most significant aspect of the visit was the advanced discussions regarding the stadium project promised by FIFA, which will be implemented according to international standards. He added that both sides agreed to visit an Arab country with a similar project model to study it before adopting a similar model in Lebanon, pointing out that work is currently underway to identify a suitable location, with significant progress being made on this matter. As part of his official tour, Infantino met today with Interior Minister Ahmed Hajjar, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Minister of Youth and Sports Noura Bayrakdarian, where the meetings addressed sports and development issues related to the advancement of football. The Lebanese side, in addition to following up on existing cooperation projects with FIFA. Haidar confirmed that discussions with FIFA are ongoing, and that further steps and procedures will be announced successively in the coming period.
