Haider visits a training course for referees, assistant referee (FAR) video

The President of the Lebanese Football Association, Hashem Haidar, visited the Ramada Hotel, where he was briefed on the progress of the training course held by the association for its referees as part of the second phase of the protocol for implementing the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the Lebanese Football League. Haidar was accompanied on his visit by the Chairman of the Referees Committee, Mahmoud Al-Rabaa, and committee members, Talat Najm and Mohammad Al-Mawla. Twenty-five referees are participating in the course, forming the first batch of Lebanese referees who will obtain a VAR referee license and will officiate matches in the second or third six-game phase, depending on whether FIFA grants permission to implement the VAR system in the Lebanese League. A second batch of referees will undergo similar courses to obtain a VAR license. This phase will begin after the end of the current season and before the start of the next 2024-2025 season. The current training course is being supervised by engineers from the French company "Foco", headed by Frenchman Daniel Dedis, which is supposed to supply the Federation with the equipment, along with engineers from the company "Talne Sport", under the supervision of the company's president, Dr. Omar Al-Masry, which will provide operational and technical services to the Lebanese Federation. The Federation President listened to an explanation from the engineers about the nature of the work and the stages being completed. He also watched some referees apply the devices by reviewing arbitration cases, presenting them through the (VAR), and making the correct decisions regarding them. The current training course is preceded by another course that will start on December 22nd for a period of ten days under the supervision of FIFA, which appointed Egyptian lecturer Tamer Dorri to lecture Lebanese referees on completing the required hours of experience and simulation with the (VAR) devices and how to implement the system.
