
Pancho Sports Club organized the 2023 Lebanese Open Backgammon Championship for Mahbousa and Franjia over two consecutive days at the Sakr Hall in Dbayeh, under the supervision of the Lebanese Federation for Heritage and Traditional Sports. The tournament saw the participation of 180 players from all Lebanese regions and age groups. In the final results, Suleiman Franjia won the Mahbousa tournament after defeating his competitor Tony Makri, who came in second place, while Hussein Saad took third place. As for the "Franjieh" tournament, Joe Barnaba won the title after defeating his competitor Maroun Bshouti, who came in second, while third place went to Ghassan Hamieh. At the end, the president of the host club and head of the Backgammon Federation, Jean Abi Haidar, distributed the cups and prizes to the winners. In his speech on the occasion, he promised that his club will host several backgammon tournaments and championships in 2024, in addition to other sporting and intellectual activities that will be announced in due course. He wished all Lebanese athletes in various games, and backgammon and chess players and fans, a merry Christmas and a new year full of health, joy and success.
