Arab Basketball Championship in Dubai

The Arab Basketball Federation has decided to confirm the dates for the 26th Arab National Teams Championship, which will be held in Dubai from November 10th to 16th. Eight Arab countries will participate: the UAE, Tunisia, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Palestine, Yemen, and Somalia. This decision was made during a meeting held in Alexandria, chaired by Major General Ismail Al Gergawi, President of both the Arab and Emirati Basketball Federations.

Brigadier General Abdullah Shalabi, Secretary General of the Arab Football Federation, indicated that the Federation had rescheduled the tournament to begin on November 10th instead of November 8th, taking into account the schedules of some national teams preparing for continental qualifiers for the World Cup. Shalabi affirmed that the UAE Football Association possesses all the necessary technical and organizational capabilities to ensure the tournament's success, and that reducing the number of participating teams does not diminish the importance of the upcoming edition.

In another context, the Egyptian Sporting Club announced its desire to host the Women’s Clubs Championship next year, as the club’s president, Ahmed Hassan, informed Major General Ismail Al-Qarqawi of this decision during the ceremony honoring the delegations, with expectations that the final agreement will be announced at a later time.

The meeting was attended by a number of prominent sports figures, including Abdulrahman Al-Musaed, Vice President of the Federation, Hassan Youssef, Vice President of the Sudanese Federation and Board Member, along with Brigadier General Abdullah Shalabi, Dr. Munir Bin Habib, Technical Director, and Ayman Qasim, Financial Director.
