The Lebanese University Sports Federation held a grand ceremony at the Hilton Habtoor Hotel to mark the end of its sports season. The event was attended by prominent figures from the sports, social, educational, and official sectors, including Dr. Raja Labaki, representing the Minister of Youth and Sports, George Kallas. The ceremony, held under the auspices of the Arab Open University, included the distribution of awards to the winning teams in the Federation's championships, as well as to the winners of the individual championships. Following the opening with the Lebanese national anthem, a recorded message from the President of the International University Sports Federation, Leon Eder of Switzerland, was played. In his message, he stated: "Twenty-five championships in various sports were held through your Federation. I want to congratulate you on this success in both education and sports. You are the best ambassadors for the principles of the International Federation, which are based on the importance of knowledge and physical perfection. I wish you all the best." For his part, the President of the Lebanese Federation, Ziad Saadeh, said in his address: "We believe in youth because they are the foundation of the nation, and our champions whom we are honoring today are the cornerstone of university sports and have become the lifeblood of every university they belong to." He added: "What's most important to me is that every athlete is educated because the athletic career isn't long. Therefore, we have a project in cooperation with universities that aims to integrate any athlete who hasn't completed their studies into four academic cycles. We've also begun preparing teams to compete internationally." Following this, His Excellency presented commemorative shields to the President of the Olympic Committee, Pierre El-Jalkh; Federation member Sami Karabetian for his election to the Executive Committee of the International Federation; student Lara Chehayeb for her appointment to the International Federation's Student Committee; and Zakaria Sharara, the sports official at the Arab Open University. A video showcasing the Federation's organization of the "Nasri Lahoud Universiade 2024" was also shown, and its president and members presented awards to the winners of its titles, as well as the Federation's shield for the season's champion, to Saint Joseph University.
