FIFA President Gianni Infantino met with Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun in New York, where they discussed ways to develop the game and enhance cooperation with FIFA through structural projects and technical support programs.

Infantino confirmed in an Instagram post that football represents a message of hope for Lebanese youth, stressing the importance of benefiting from FIFA initiatives, foremost among them the “FIFA Arena” project for infrastructure development.

He praised the progress made by the Lebanese Football Association, headed by Hashem Haidar, with the support of the “FIFA Forward” program, which was reflected in the qualification of the Olympic team for the first time to the AFC U-23 Asian Cup finals, in addition to the first women’s team achieving the best ranking in its history.

He also recalled his visit to Lebanon in 2019 to launch the “Football for Schools” program, emphasizing the Lebanese people’s love for this sport.
