Dr. Ahmed Khalifa, Secretary General of the Lebanese Triathlon Federation, participated in the General Assembly of the International Triathlon Union, which convened following the final stage of the World Championships held on the beaches of Malaga, Spain. Representatives from 81 countries attended in person, while 15 participated remotely. The meeting included a review of the federation's administrative and financial performance reports, discussions of the work of various committees, and voting on submitted proposals.
Amidst the current local challenges, Dr. Khalifa was keen to represent Lebanon effectively, participating in several meetings held on the sidelines of the General Assembly. These included meetings with the Francophone Union, the Mediterranean Union, the Asian Union, and the West Asian Union. Dr. Khalifa conducted a series of discussions and coordination efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation and supporting the interests of the Lebanese Triathlon Federation.
The General Assembly witnessed a significant event: the election of Spaniard Antonio Arremani as the new president of the International Federation, succeeding his compatriot Marisol Casado, who held the position for 16 years. It is worth noting that Casado had visited Lebanon 12 years prior at the invitation of the Lebanese Federation, where she supported efforts to develop the sport locally.
