Akram Halabi, President of the Lebanese Basketball Federation

In a massive turnout and record participation, Akram Halabi was elected president of the Lebanese Basketball Federation for a new four-year term. The elections took place on Sunday at the Antranik Club (Demirjian Center, Naccache). The general assembly witnessed a large turnout from clubs across all divisions, with 11 clubs from the first division, 14 from the second division, 15 from the third division, and 69 from the fourth division participating. These clubs gave their full confidence to Halabi's slate.

The general election assembly was chaired by the oldest member who was not a candidate, Ibrahim Mansi, who announced that the legal quorum had been secured and declared the list had won by acclamation after the candidates Nimer Jabr and Faraj Aad withdrew their nominations.

Following that, the winning members held a session to allocate positions, which resulted in the following:

Haig Tabakian (Officer of Relations with the Asian Football Confederation)
Mohammad Abu Bakr (Basketball Coordinator and Development in the North and Akkar Governorates)
Elie Khalil (Head of Stadiums Committee)

During the General Assembly meeting, chaired by Halabi, the latter welcomed the attendees and spoke about the remarkable achievements of the Lebanese Basketball Federation on various domestic and international levels. These achievements ranged from the successes of the national teams to the organization of numerous tournaments and the development of academies. The meeting also addressed the signing of several sponsorship contracts, the renovation and upgrading of stadiums, and other accomplishments that have contributed to strengthening the position of Lebanese basketball.

At the end of the session, Halabi presented an appreciation plaque to the Acting Director General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ms. Fadia Hallal, which was received by lawyer Ibrahim Shweiri.
