Southampton again in the Premier League

Southampton joined the qualifiers for the English Premier League, after defeating Leeds United, with an unanswered goal scored by Adam Armstrong, in the match that brought them together at Wembley Stadium.

Southampton competed in the qualifying round after occupying fourth place in the Champions League standings, with Leeds United, West Bromwich and Norwich City.

Thus, Southampton became the third to return to the Premier League, after Leicester City and Ipswich Town rose directly after occupying first and second places in the First Division standings.

It is noteworthy that Southampton succeeded in returning to the Premier League one year after being relegated to the First Division.
