Egyptian star Ahmed Fathi, former player for the Egyptian national team and Al Ahly club, has officially announced his retirement from football after a long and illustrious career filled with achievements at both the domestic and international levels. The decision to retire, nicknamed "The Joker," came after winning the Egyptian Cup with Pyramids FC in the 2023-2024 season, allowing him to leave the pitch on a high note.

Ahmed Fathi was born on November 10, 1984. He began his professional career at Ismaily SC, where he excelled and distinguished himself with his ability to play in several positions, later becoming one of the most prominent players in the history of Egyptian football. Fathi moved to Al Ahly SC in 2006, where he contributed to the team's victory in numerous domestic and continental championships, including the CAF Champions League.

On the international level, Fathi played 134 matches with the Egyptian national team, winning three consecutive Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010. He also participated in the 2018 World Cup and the 2012 London Olympics. He had previously won the Africa Cup of Nations under 20 years old in 2003.

During his professional career abroad, Fathi had stints with Sheffield United and Hull City in England, and also played for Kazma in Kuwait and Umm Salal in Qatar, before returning to Al-Ahly and then moving to Pyramids in 2020, where he concluded his career.

Ahmed Fathi is one of the most prominent players in the history of Egyptian football, having written his name in gold in the pages of local and international football, recording a career that will remain engraved in the memory of his fans.
