Ralph Charbel leads Al Ahly Tripoli Club to a historic win before the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal

Al Ahly Tripoli Club won its international case against the American Basketball Player Ismael Romero Fernandez, as the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT) in Geneva accepted the Claim submitted by the Legal Representative of Al Ahly Tripoli Club Attorney Ralph Charbel

.The Swiss Tribunal awarded the Libyan Club a huge monetary compensation for the unilateral termination of the contract of the American Player by the Libyan Club with just cause, in addition to the due default interests.

Moreover, BAT also decided that the Player Ismael Romero Fernandez shall bear the biggest part of the Tribunal’s Costs and of the Legal Expenses of Al Ahly Tripoli Club.On the 27th of January 2026, Al Ahly Tripoli Club faced Zamboanga Valientes during the Dubai International Tournament. In the beginning of that game, the Player Ismael Romero Fernandez kicked Zamboanga Valientes’ guard Nick Demusis twice while lying on the floor. Thus, the American Player was immediately ejected from the game.On the 28th of January 2026, the Technical Committee of Dubai International Tournament issued its decision according to which the American Player was banned from participating in the remainder of the competition.
